I’ve got some exciting news to share with you today!
About a month or so ago, I was informed that Z Publishing House was putting together a collection of poetry for New Yorkers (they do the same for the other states, too), aptly titled New York’s Best Emerging Poets 2019. They were accepting submissions, so I unboxed some of the poetry I had stored away, dusted one off and tweaked it, and sent it in. I wasn’t expecting much, honestly.
But lo and behold, they accepted it! Which means they thought it was good ─ enough to publish, even!
Wow. To be honest, that does my heart good.
I haven’t done something like this in a long time, sending off my work for review and a potential publishing opportunity. It’s a big confidence booster when complete strangers acknowledge your work!
And now, as of Monday July 29, the anthology is published and available for purchase. My words are in an actual publishing house book. Y’all, that’s so exciting! It’s also a little humbling, because my work rests beside compositions from folks who have a real knack and passion for the poetic arts, whereas I have struggled with the subject since grade school.
Here’s another neat thing: since I’m now an affiliate, if you go through this link to the website and make any purchase whatsoever, I’ll receive a portion of the sale. Isn’t that a sweet deal?
I’m so glad I had the opportunity (and courage, to be honest) to venture out like this and try something a little bit different. It’s just a small way of proving that you never know what you can achieve unless you try.
