Wrapping Up NaNo

Can I just ask, wherever did November go?! I mean, just a couple of weeks ago we were closing October, getting ready to dive into NaNoWriMo, and savoring all the fall-ness. I blinked, and now it’s practically December.

Who knew that blinking caused time travel? I guess it’s time to sew my eyes open.

Did anyone else experience a lightning fast November? Has it been a good November? I know a lot of people didn’t get to have big family gatherings for Thanksgiving, but I hope you were able to celebrate it with a cluster of your loved ones. And this year more than ever is a great time to really think back on all the things we can be thankful for – and most importantly, to WHOM we are thankful for all of these things. God has blessed us so much this past year, and it shows in the little things just as much – if not more so – than in the big things.

As for NaNo, there are only two days left for all the challengers to reach their goals. By now, a lot of folks have already surpassed the 50k objective. Some of us are nowhere near that. I didn’t aim for the 50k this year, but I haven’t quite reached my personal goal yet, either. My 20k was just an estimate for my edits on Falconsbane and whatnot, a wordcount that represent my progress. But as it turns out, I’ve actually been rewriting several sections of the manuscript, so for the most part it’s been pretty literal. So far I am rather pleased with all the changes. Even though it’s amounting to a lot of work! I need to lay out a new, updated timeline (?) and cut out a hefty sum of text (?). But it’ll be all right in the end, won’t it? It’ll be better, right??

So! I have about 1.5k to go in order to reach my wordcount. I have not drafted any more short stories for Havok yet, either. I have approximately 76% of an idea, and a wee bit over a month to get it submitted. I’ve also just been too preoccupied working on Falconsbane , so it’s hard to feel down about not doing any ‘fun size’ fiction. Besides the fact that I’ve been working with Havok’s editorial team on two stories they’ve already accepted (?). I haven’t received any specific dates yet, but they should be appearing sometime throughout January, so that’ll be a special treat to start off the new year!

What projects have you been up to this past month? Have you finished any Christmas shopping? Started any Christmas shopping? ?? I try to keep a running list of ideas throughout the year so I’m not so overwhelmed thinking about what to do for everyone. How do you go about it?
